Hey Guys,

For those that didn't catch it on my Twitter Feed last night (shame on you! - Follow http://twitter.com/Rogue_Traders ), I have posted a listen to the original 1st demo of Voodoo Child...

I came across it again yesterday, and thought it might be fun to share with you all after all these years.

This version features my mrs, Melinda, on lead vox. It has a few bits in it that never made it onto the final version. Steve D and I wrote this not long after we'd finished work on our first RT album, We Know What You're Up To - and we really didn't realise what we had at the time. In fact, when we sent this out to record companies, it was actually track 6 on an 8 track sampler!

People kept telling us Track 6 was pretty good, so we looked harder at it again...

The rest, as they say...

Anyway, I won't keep it up there for long. It's just a bit of fun!

Cheers for now,

J

It's great James!

I can hear a few things that are different in it (apart from the singer obviously)

Your wife has an amazing voice! I love her singing on Give In To Me as well smile.gif

Melinda's vocals don't sound a million miles away from Nat's. It's really interesting to see how it all started out and what it ended up as. Cheers James.

Out of curiousity, what were the other 7 tracks on the sampler?

I'll have to try and fish them out - but from memory:

There were early versions of Believer & World Go Round. Maybe even Casting Aside.

There was a song called 'Nightlife' - which I sang - that I thought was brilliant at the time... It wasn't wink.gif

Watching You, Way To Go, We're Coming Home & In Love Again - None of them existed yet.

There very well could have been an early version of the song, Better In The Dark, too. That was around before HCTD.

Hmmm - now you've piqued my memory - I'll go and find out....

The bassline of Nightlife is in Change The Channel. I remember James saying when I asked what CTC consisted of.

But yeah, it would be amazing to hear some of those demos, especially Nightlife. I'm sure they sound fantastic. If only we could find out for definite. *HINT HINT HINT* lol.
